Union Pacific Streamliners From The Late 1950s

This caught my attention because I vividly remember the print ad that resulted from this promotional TV spot. We didn’t take National Geographic, so I must have seen the ad at my barber shop when I was a kid. My dad would usually drop me off, and I would walk home afterwards.

My first passenger train ride didn’t occur until I was probably in my forties, when my wife and I took a trip from Oakland, California, to Reno, Nevada, and back. We had a great time and saw some snowy scenes you can’t see from the road.

Later on, we took trains to various places while visiting Europe a couple of times while on vacation. I have to admit, they are a lot nicer than the ones on our Reno trip.

Sometime later, I took a train trip from London to Switzerland during a business trip. It was the most interesting of all due to the changing scenery, with some of it breathtaking. While I was there, I bought a Swiss Army Knife. Lo and behold, when I got home, I learned I could have purchased the same knife here for less money.
