Thoughts On Aging And Loving

Thoughts On Aging And Loving

One day you are going to hug your last hug,

Kiss your last kiss and hear someones voice for the last time.

But you will never know when that last time will be.

So, live every day as if it were the last time you will be with the love of your life!

What is shown above is based on something I saw and posted on social media.

A dear friend I have known since childhood saw it and shared something with me she wrote late one night when she couldn’t sleep while she was grieving the loss of her husband way too early in their life together.

She allowed me to post it in hopes that it might help someone in their grieving process.

Mary’s Thoughts On Losing The Love Of Her Life.

There Was a Last Time

  • There was a last time he brushed his teeth and spit into the sink.
  • There was a last time he enjoyed the warm cascade of a shower.
  • There was a last time he combed his hair and got it just right.
  • There was a last time he powdered his feet and got between his toes.
  • There was a last time he found a meal tasty and laughed at a joke.
  • There was a last time he enjoyed a latte and an ice cream cone.
  • There was a last savor of Jack Daniel’s before his ‘taster’ failed.
  • There was a last time he hunted and fished, and missed his biggest dream.
  • There was a last trip he took, yet planning for more to come.
  • There was a last time he paid the bills and balanced the checkbook.
  • There was a last time he camped with family and friends, and laughed at the campfire.
  • There was a last time he took his family out to eat while hiding his pain.
  • There was a last birthday celebration unaware of its significance.
  • There was a last anniversary, looking forward to more, hoping to reach 50.
  • There was a last holiday spent with family and had a picture taken.
  • There was a last time he tickled his granddaughter and he heard her little giggle.
  • There was a last time he rubbed his grandson’s head and promises were made.
  • There was a last doctor appointment when the doctor could do no more.
  • There was a last time he dressed and wore shoes; his last a hospital gown.
  • There was a last ride in the car; the last time he came home.
  • There was a last time he choked down medication giving up all his hope.
  • There was a last walk down the hall trying to regain strength.
  • There was a last time he enjoyed the garden vista and said, “Don’t cry yet; it’s too soon.”
  • There was a last time he greeted friends, smiling over his pain.
  • There was a last time he spoke deeply, spiritually, with many of his friends.
  • There was a last time for friendships, both close and casual.
  • There was a last “I love you” whispered softly from his heart.
  • There was a last pain he endured before he fell asleep.
  • There was a last morning he awoke to greet his last new day.
  • There was a last time he was comforted listening to his favorite music.
  • There was a last goodbye to and from his family before his spirit fled.
  • There was a last breath and deep sigh from this tired man.
  • There was a last and final beat of his poor broken heart.
  • There was a last departure from his home, never to return.
  • There was a last time for ‘always’; always a gentleman, strong, there.
  • There is a last time for everything; we just know not when.

THE END
