The Murder Trial Of Minneapolis Police Officer Mohamed Noor

On July 15, 2017, Justine Ruszczyk, also known as Justine Damond, a 40-year-old Australian-American woman, was shot and killed by Mohamed Noor, a Somali-American Minneapolis Police Department officer, after she had called 9-1-1 to report the possible assault of a woman in an alley behind her house. Noor was ultimately arrested and charged with second-degree manslaughter and third-degree murder following an eight-month investigation by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office.

Occurring weeks after a high-profile manslaughter trial acquittal in the 2016 police shooting of Philando Castile, also in the Twin Cities metro area, the shooting exacerbated existing tensions and attracted national and international press.

Scott W. Johnson, a Minneapolis attorney, has been following the trial closely and reporting what he sees on “Powerline” a site that features commentary on the news from a conservative perspective. Links to his articles on happenings in the courtroom are provided below.
