Tom Lehrer is a comedy genius, but hasn’t performed for many years.
He was a sensation in the late 1950s. Lehrer was a confident Harvard-educated math prodigy who turned his bone-dry wit to satirical musical comedy.
His was reminiscent of Broadway performers of the ‘20s and ‘30s — a man and his piano delivering crisp and clever lyrics that were funny and sharp to the point of drawing blood. His little ditties, like the ones below, still make me laugh.
